Sterling Builders Group is a Gainesville-based construction partner dedicated to serving the University of Florida, local institutions, and municipal clients with the experience, responsiveness, and accountability required for continuing service contracts. With new ownership led by Matt Webster and Anthony Lyons, Sterling brings decades of UF and government project experience, along with a deep understanding of the processes, standards, and coordination needed to deliver successful work in active campus and public environments.

Meet The Owners
Matt Webster
Matt Webster brings more than two decades of construction leadership experience to Sterling Builders Group, with a background rooted in service, accountability, and strong relationship building. A graduate of the University of Florida’s M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management, Matt also participated in Army ROTC and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant before graduation. He went on to serve four years as a combat engineer, including two overseas tours, before beginning his career in construction.
Since then, Matt has advanced into executive leadership with experience managing projects for state agencies, K-12 schools, higher education institutions, and large organizations. He understands the coordination, communication, and trust required to deliver complex projects successfully, and he remains focused on building strong partnerships and high-performing teams in every role.
ANTHONY LYONS
Anthony Lyons brings more than 25 years of experience leading construction, infrastructure, and development projects across the public and private sectors. His work includes ground-up construction, adaptive reuse, historic rehabilitation, streetscape improvements, parks, public works, mixed-use development, and commercial, residential, hospitality, and retail projects.
With deep familiarity in the Gainesville market and the University of Florida environment, Anthony understands the planning, procurement, permitting, inspections, and regulatory coordination required for successful institutional and municipal work. His leadership brings a thoughtful, community-focused perspective to Sterling Builders Group, helping ensure each project is managed with clarity, compliance, and careful coordination.
